Next Gen Assembly: A Call Out to Global Fashion Storytellers Looking to Activate Positive Social Change

"Cognitive science scholarship suggests that human brains quite literally process the world through narratives" - The Luc Hoffmann Institute, Biodiversity Revisited

After introducing our partnership with Global Fashion Agenda in February this year, we are excited to announce the launch of our ‘Next Gen Assembly’ programme – a call out for fashion storytellers of all kinds to form a group that will voice the concerns of their generation and accelerate impact at the Global Fashion Summit 2023 in Copenhagen. We’re looking for seven individuals from around the world, to join the Fashion Values Challenge student winner and become members of the Next Gen Assembly, attending the annual GFA summit on 27-28th June 2023 (travel, accommodation and tickets will be provided). This is an open call to current fashion students and recent graduates who are committed to using their voices to advocate positive change for the next generation of fashion practitioners and professionals.

Storytelling is a powerful tool to approach the uncertainty of our current times, and a method of communicating and documenting diverse fashion cultures. The role of the Next Gen Assembly will be to collaboratively communicate stories of human creativity across and beyond the fashion system, with the goal of activating the change we want to see in this arena. Stories of restoration and regeneration are more important than ever if we want to shift the industry into a more positive position.

The Next Gen Assembly will work with GFA and Fashion Values through a series of online collaborative workshops and will complete the Fashion Values: Cultures online course. In preparation for their role at the Summit in Copenhagen, the Assembly will focus on community building and sharing aspirations, developing methodologies for reaching change and exploring what it means to be a successful advocate for the fashion community. The group will then play a crucial role at the Global Fashion Summit 2023, with each assembly member assigned to an on-site industry mentor, participating in activities and networking opportunities throughout the event, giving them the chance to put their storytelling into practice.
